We consulted our database to see what MPVs are the most popular in Ireland. The results, based on all MPVs currently live in the Irish fleet, show that the Opel Zafira is Ireland’s favourite MPV.

Standing for Multi Purpose Van the MPV has dramatically altered over the course of the past two decades to become a “child-friendly vehicle” purposely designed with larger families in mind. Design-wise there have been moves by the manufacturers to produce MPVs which look more sleek and stylish than simply resemble a “box with wheels” – although this latter criticism can still be made about some of the vehicles on the market!

Our results show that the Opel Zafira is more than twice as popular as its nearest rival with 11,646 Zafira MPVs live in the Irish fleet today. Considered a reasonable all-rounder the Zafira is within budget for many families looking to buy a larger sized vehicle and these factors may help to explain its popularity.

It is followed closely in the rankings by the more expensive Ford Galaxy. The Galaxy has lately become a popular model for premium marque drivers who realize that all the kids simply don’t fit in the back of the A4 or 5 Series! Known for a quiet ride with tonnes of practicality the Galaxy is a super vehicle for those who can afford to splash out a bit extra.
