See what’s covered

Trust the data, not the sales pitch.
Every seller says the car is perfect. Cartell tells you what the record actually shows: whether it’s been written off, clocked, registered as a taxi or hackney, or is carrying outstanding finance. Facts you can act on, not a story you have to take on faith.
One check. Every angle covered.
As well as confirming finance, taxi or hackney use and write-off history, a Cartell Car Check pulls together 20 areas of a vehicle’s past into a single, easy-to-read report.
Make, model, colour, door plan & engine size.
Outstanding car finance against the vehicle.
Write-off & recorded insurance damage.
NMR cross-check for clocking & discrepancies.

Outstanding alerts logged against the car.
Irish & UK roadworthiness test history & expiry.
Current motor tax status & expiry.
Recorded events across the car’s life.

Don’t buy into trouble.
A cheap-looking car can hide a costly history. These are the problems a Cartell check surfaces before they become your problem.
- Outstanding financeThe car may still belong to a lender, not the seller.
- Written offPreviously declared a total loss and put back on the road.
- Clocked mileageOdometer wound back to hide real wear and tear.
- Ex-taxi or hackneyHigh-use history that dents value and reliability.
The more we hold, the more we catch.

Catches the hidden past of UK imports
So many used cars here started life in Britain. Our licensed HPI UK access, the No.1 source of UK car-history data since 1938, means an import can’t leave its history behind at the ferry.

Spots a clocked odometer
We cross-check the reading against the National Mileage Register, Ireland’s largest mileage database, which Cartell founded in 2006, so wound-back miles have nowhere to hide.

Confirms finance on both sides of the water
A car that’s still on finance isn’t really the seller’s to sell. A Cartell check returns a genuine finance result in Ireland and the UK, so you know the car is clear before you pay.

Beware “inconclusive” UK finance checks
A bona fide UK finance check returns a clear status of on finance or not on finance, exactly like an Irish finance check. It will never come back “inconclusive”.
If you’ve received an inconclusive result, the check you paid for was not carried out on your behalf, and you run the risk that the vehicle is on finance. If you’ve been the victim of this scam, request your money back and report the complaint to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
