Ireland’s car experts, now with Japanese data.

Car VX is the first and only provider of Japanese vehicle history reports. Many Cartell customers in Ireland and the UK import from Japan, so we partnered with Car VX to give them access.

When a vehicle is flagged as a Japanese import in your Cartell Car Check, you’ll get the option to run a Japanese history check too.

FAQ

What do I need to run a check?

Just the chassis (VIN) number. If the car hasn’t been registered in Ireland yet, the chassis number works perfectly. No access to the car? Ask the seller for it.

How much does a report cost?

Around €25 — an approximate figure (¥3,900) that’s subject to changes in currency conversion rates.

Where do I find the chassis number?

On the manufacturer build plate, usually on the left or right of the firewall under the bonnet. In Japan it’s the “Chassis No.” or “Frame No.” — about 12–17 digits, e.g. JZA80-1004956.

What’s included in the report?

Vehicle details, average auction price, odometer and use history, manufacturer recalls, a vehicle assessment, full specification, and a glossary for the reader.

Is Car VX part of Cartell?

Car VX is a third-party data partner. You’ll be redirected to the Car VX site to purchase the report — always verify the vehicle make, model and details before you proceed.
