Range Rover Evoque

The range Rover Evoque looks fantastic on its stand in pictures from the Show this year. Landrover sold almost 88,000 units of the Evoque in its first year on sale – and was hard pressed to keep up with demand for the vehicle across Europe. This year it presents a face-lifted version. In terms of exterior styling the outgoing Evoque’s two-bar grille has been replaced with a sportier, meaner-looking, mesh. New colours are available in the interior among other features.

Ford Focus RS

It looks like the hot-hatch is emerging as one talking point of this years show with several examples from different manufacturers. We’ve picked out the Ford Focus RS as generally representative of what we expect to see in Geneva this year. The RS sports all-wheel-drive, a 2.3 litre engine, and outputs 315 hp. The all-wheel-drive system packs a Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control system that sends up to 70 percent of the power to the rear axle, and, on top of that the Focus RS adds a brake-based torque vectoring system, which transfers power laterally when required.

Toyota Auris Face-Lift

As always the Show will feature many ordinary cars – as well as the extra-ordinary – as the industry debuts vehicles with mass-market appeal. Among these the Toyota Auris face-lift is likely to be one vehicle on display which catches the attention of many buyers. Noticeable changes are the adoption of LED headlights and a more prominent front bumper. The back of the car hosts LED taillights and a more muscular bumper. Toyota has installed a new shark fin roof antenna. The interior has also been upgraded.

VW Touran

Within the MPV segment the VW Touran is a significant vehicle. The new Touran is lighter by 62 Kg than the previous version and will be available in both 5- and 7-seat versions. According to Volkswagen it provides a best-in-class cargo capacity of 1,040 litres which is up 48 litres on the previous generation model. The exterior design is evolutionary with sharper lines while retaining the boxy shape standard in this class of vehicle.

Concepts

Geneva is great for concept vehicles and this year, among others, the show features the Bentley EXP10 speed 6 concept. This vehicle presents a really different look than what we’ve come to expect from Bentley. The cabin, in particular, looks stunning.

The usual assortment of Super-Luxury, Supercars and Hypercars…

Of course the Geneva Show is famous for premieres of exclusive vehicles and this year’s show looks like a cracker with post-recessionary vehicles aplenty, among others, the Ferrari 488 GTB (the long-anticipated replacement for the 458 Italia), the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (which looks stunning), the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman and Aston Martin’s  800hp Vulcan.
